The pet of God

In Matthew 15:21-28 Jesus heals the daughter of a Canaanite woman. At the begin of the story Jesus Ignores her...hmm this is odd!! Jesus ignoring someone trying ask for healing? YES!! what he did through out the story he is deepening her faith!! Here is what HE does and what she does in response!



1. Jesus ignores her so his disciples asks the lord to dismiss her because she is raising a ruckus.
2. Jesus says that "I have not just come to save the lost sheep of Israel."
3. She calls unto him and starts to worship him, and asks him to help her!
4. He says "It is not meet to take the children's bread and give it to dogs"....PAUSE!! DID JESUS JUST CALL HER A DOG??????....YES, he did, BUT this is the only time in the New Testament (other than the parallel passage in mark) that this particular word is used it literally means "the family pet"! WHOA!! huge compliment coming from the creator of the entire universe!
5. The woman replies: "True LORD, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the masters table"
6. Jesus says: "O woman, great is thy faith!" ....I would like to point out here that Jesus has only said this Phrase twice in his earthly ministry. And both of the were to gentiles the other time he says it is to the centurion in with the sick servant. (Matt 8:10).

I have been thinking about this a lot...Would Jesus call me His pet? During the entire passage Jesus is bringing her father along with her Faith. Here is my final thought: Even if God seems to be ignoring you...KEEP worshipping!! He is DEEPENING YOUR FAITH!! So the point of my post is to have faith like a dog! =)
